Last year, the school changed starting time to 15 minutes earlier. That doesn't sound like much, but I feel they should have went the other way. One week they started an hour later because of testing and it made the world of difference to my son.

I so know this scenario. My twins have to be up by 6 a.m. so they have enough time to get ready before schoolbus time at 7:04. In order to get to the bus, they have to leave at 6:50 and walk up to the highway from our house nestled in the forest. The highschool starts at 8:10 and ends at 2:30. I can't even imagine most of the students comprehending much of their studies before lunchbreak. I've heard stories of kids falling asleep in classes. Studies show that teenagers brains don't "wake up" early and there is a highschool in Toronto where they have changed the hours to reflect an 11:00 a.m. start to accomodate this phenomenon and study it. I try to get my girls to go to bed earlier but to no avail. I guess teenagers are destined to fall asleep in class.
